Keywords: regional development agency, socio-entrepreneurial corporations, regional development institutions, public-private partnerships, quasi-state organizations. Highlights: the world experience in the creation and functioning of regional development institutions is reviewed and summarized; a comparative analysis of the main areas and parameters of regional development institutions is carried out; the most preferable models and forms of regional development institutions are established.
