The paper illustrates the problems and strategic direction of the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation, identifies the main threats facing the macro-region, and suggests ways to address them through increased use of public-private partnership, particularly in development of transport infrastructure in the region in order to preserve the population and maintain innovation- oriented development of the area.
