The rational choice of a product range is a very difficult task. Complexity involves the need for considering a large number of various factors for each type of products: profitability, demand frequency, etc. These characteristics should be analyzed during the certain period of time - several months, quarters, years in order to estimate stability of income generation, a trend, etc. The approach novelty offered in this article, is that it includes classical methods of the analysis accepted in marketing (ABC, XYZ), etc. as well as the methods, used when developing difficult information systems. Such methodology allows solving the complex problem using several iterations formulated above.
