INFORMAL EMPLOYMENT: ESSENCE, CAUSES, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES

L.I. Alonkina

This article is devoted to the problem of informal employment in the “black” economy of Russia. With the transition to the market economy in Russia a special sphere of employment for the population in the “black” economy is developing. Its criminal part reveals the fact of criminal activity, but in the informal sphere which is estimated to include from 7 to 30 and even to 60 mln. people, evades inspection and taxes. It is difficult to value this informal employment as negative or positive phenomena, as its origin and existence is a reaction of the self-regulation of the labour market on the inconsequential social-economic policy of the state.
